The Fenoglio family settled in Nocona, Texas in 1886. Around that same time, H.J. "Daddy Joe" Justin, who had been making boots for cowboys on the Chisholm Trail, moved his wife and seven children to Nocona to capitalize on better shipping and a boom market. The company eventually became H.J. Justin & Sons, and after Daddy Joe's death in 1918, his sons moved the business to Fort Worth.
“Miss Enid,” one of the Justin daughters, stayed in Nocona and founded Nocona Boot Company in 1925. Though in direct competition with her brothers, Miss Enid’s goal was to support the small town that had supported her family for so long. Under her direction, Nocona Boots became a respected national brand and when she died in 1990 the Justin brothers acquired the company.
In 2014, the city of Nocona was facing hard times. The Fenoglio family stepped up and, using modern updates to Miss Enid's business model, charted a new course in bootmaking that honors the talents and skills of the same local people who have been crafting quality boots in Nocona for over 40 years.
